ANALYST REPORT
The modern organization faces security threats stemming from multiple angles. Of these, email stands out as a primary threat vector, with phishing reported as a top concern – particularly in significantly expanded remote work in the wake of 2020. According to 451 Research's Voice of the Enterprise: Information Security, Organizational Dynamics 2020, phishing was the most frequently reported attack type seen to have increased as a result of working from home. At 69% of respondents, it was reported nearly twice as often as the next most common tactic. This is mainly due to the role email plays within the organization. Unlike other technologies, email provides a direct link to employees, which allows for recipient manipulation and advanced tactics to reach susceptible users. In addition, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, these emails prey on exploitable human emotions to convince employees to open malicious links or reveal sensitive data.
